Don’t Be Late. . . .

Our transportation focus this week is on one of our Stability Transportation Programs called Work N Wheels. The Work N Wheels Program is designed to help currently employed, income-eligible individuals with assistance in obtaining an affordable, dependable vehicle in order to get to work-related activities.  Eligible individuals may receive a no-interest loan for up to $5,000 to purchase a vehicle.  Loans are made with a maximum repayment time period of 34 months and payments of $150 per month.  A downpayment of 9%-10% is required.

This program is available in the following counties: Florence, Forest, Langlade, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Oneida, Shawano, and Vilas. Those who are eligible must reside in one of these counties and have an annual family income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. If you feel this program may be able to help you, try our eligibility calculator to find out if you are eligible.

Interested in learning just a bit more, read on! Our Transportation Director, Peggy Zielinski, puts Work-N-Wheels into her own words.

“Helping people with transportation may not be the “flashiest” job in the Community Action Program Agency, but it’s the one I love! I work to create opportunities for residents who are in need of transportation. In this rural area that we live in, we can’t depend on mass transit; individual or personal transportation is essential. One of the programs I am most proud of, and that makes me smile biggest is the Work N Wheels Program.

Getting a job is a great confidence booster, but that boost doesn’t last long if you can’t get to your job! We can offer the opportunity to hang onto that boost. The Work N Wheels Program is just that, a program that can help working residents get “wheels.” We understand that even though you work, budgets are tight. Our loans are interest-free with low monthly payments. This program “gives” you nothing but opportunity! You do the work, you make the payments, and you own the car! Dave Leisner, Program Manager, gives you the benefit of his years of vehicle buying experience. You get the final decision, but he is with you all the way through the process.

When you come to Newcap, we want to help you find opportunities, because we believe if you have an opportunity, you will succeed. You will have the change to work with Newcap’s Budget Counselor! She can give you some helpful tips on how to cut expenses and budget wisely.

We know that not everyone with income and transportation needs is working. As funding allows we will create new programs to give transportation opportunities to more of those who are in need.

We want to hear from you, what do you need?”
